A Fortunate Victim of Circumstance

The other day on Facebook, One of my Facebook Acquaintances shared a graphic that I found rather odd: It’s sentiment that is common, but in my opinion, misguided. Nevertheless it’s a common idea in society today.

circumstances

This idea is reflected in many other similar comments. Things we’ve probably heard, like “I’m here because I worked hard!” or “I pulled myself up by my bootstraps. If I can do it, so can anyone.” the general idea of all of these statements is: Work hard, make good decisions, and you can be successful! Make poor decisions and you will fail!

While I agree with those ideas at face value, I think these statements are dismissive of how much impact circumstance can have on success. With that in mind, I would like to just suggest a few ways that circumstances have led me to the point in my life that I’m at now. Continue reading

Should I Change My Blog’s Name to “The Lazy Blog?”

I mean seriously. February was my last post! and I think the post before that was several months before! I promise I haven’t abandoned my 11 followers (who, for all I know, are also lazy bloggers who have abandoned their blogs as well since my last post). I mean, I’ve had good excuses for not posting (I’ve been busy… like… really busy) but they aren’t the best, especially if you consider that Netflix still gets PLENTY of use (I mean, I know I’m pathetic, but I just really wanted to catch up on my “Supernatural” and re-watch “Heroes” in preparation for the new spinoff series coming soon (get pumped for the most recent announcement about the show! But I’ve also had lots of good post ideas go out the window. but it feels sooooo goooooooooood! Continue reading

Contemplating Readers

Whenever I see I’ve received random hits, I can’t help but wonder…

This blog has been around long enough, and I’ve written enough posts that someone, somewhere seems to stumble upon a post here and there. It’s always interesting to see when someone happens on one of my early posts (’cause I mean, lets face it: NOBODY read my early posts!). I always wonder who they are. Especially when they just stumble upon the post and quickly leave… I mean, when someone likes or follows the blog I can say, “Well that’s nice. Who are you? what are you all about?” Or at the very least I can say “What is your blog about.” In those cases I can get to know the people who stop by. This wasn’t something I expected when I started this whole blogging silliness, but it’s a fun way for me to feel connected to the random folks that have liked or followed the blog. And I can go back and say hi to them every now and again and see what interesting things they’ve been posting. Continue reading

10 Seinfeld Quotes That Sum Up Your Life Perfectly

this is just too good not to share

Thought Catalog

Seinfeld is, of course, the best show of all time (to quote Poppy, quite fittingly, “On this issue there’s no debate!”). For those of you who are less fanatical about it than I am (which is a bit disappointing, as an aside), you might not realize that it serves as an incredibly accurate blueprint of human behavior. It’s a biblical document, in its way.

Here are ten quotes that will hopefully convince you that the Seinfeld writers already canvassed your life problems. Consult the show to see how things turn out (Hint: not well. Sorry).

1. “Ahh, what’s the point? When I like them, they don’t like me, when they like me I don’t like them. Why can’t I act with the ones I like the way I do with the ones I don’t like?”

My all-time favourite quote from the show. Part of the genius of it is in…

Good morning, and welcome to the catchy blog. This brand new page was created for one simple purpose: me. I decided to create a blog simply to have a place to write stuff without worrying about how people felt about it.

You might say “Hey, that’s awfully inconsiderate of you, Mr. newbloggersuchansuch!” But to that I would say, “On the contrary, my friend. I believe creating this blog is being quite considerate.”

You see, like most people out there, I’m caught up in the world of social media, and I like to waste time on Facebook(among many other sites), where people like to share opinions about anything and everything. I always like to comment on those opinions, because I have this nonsensical idea that my opinion might matter to them.Trouble is that lots of my Facebook friends don’t seem to like my thoughts, because sometimes I disagree with them. Turns out that in this day and age people can’t just agree to disagree.

So here’s my blog. I’m not telling any of my Facebook friends about it, so they don’t decide to come read it and get all upset that I have thoughts. That would defeat the purpose of this blog faster than you can say, “This blog seems like a complete waste of time!!!!”

I probably won’t even tell my REAL friends and family about it, because I don’t care all that much if people read what I’m writing, although I suppose if someone did pop in I wouldn’t be all too disappointed. I mostly just want a place to talk, joke, rant, quip, and cry about whatever in the world I want to. and I mostly want to accomplish this obnoxiousness without Friends/family/colleagues/anyonethatmatterstome get really irritated or upset by what I had to say about life, the universe, and everything.

I don’t know how often I’ll post or even how long this will last, but for now, this blog space is mine, and I will take great pleasure in making it my own. So if for some odd reason you stumble upon this new blog, then sit back and enjoy, because I most certainly will!
